CoralWorker is a workforce-management and labour-marketplace platform designed to connect businesses with workers while supporting discovery, matching, workforce operations, communication, and digital service delivery.

A central engineering challenge is modernization. The platform began with older ASP.NET WebForms, jQuery, and SQL Server patterns. The goal is to move toward modern .NET, Blazor, cleaner application boundaries, mobile access, stronger identity workflows, faster discovery, cloud-connected services, and maintainable deployment practices—without pretending that a rewrite is free.

The modernization principle

Legacy software is not automatically bad software.

A mature application often contains years of business rules, exception handling, operational knowledge, and customer expectations. Replacing the code is easy to say and expensive to get wrong.

My preferred modernization strategy is to identify the parts creating the most risk or friction, establish better boundaries around them, introduce modern infrastructure where it produces real value, and move capability incrementally where possible.

Measured impact

Data-access and database redesign around critical worker-discovery and matching workloads produced an approximately 70% performance improvement in the existing project history.

That result reinforces one of my long-standing engineering beliefs: application performance is often a data-access problem before it is a language-runtime problem.

Architecture direction

  • Modernize web experiences using Blazor and current .NET patterns.
  • Use clean API boundaries for web and mobile clients.
  • Use .NET MAUI for cross-platform mobile access.
  • Refactor data access toward EF Core where appropriate while retaining deliberate database optimization for expensive workloads.
  • Use Redis for carefully selected distributed caching and ephemeral state rather than as a substitute for correct database design.
  • Use Elasticsearch for search scenarios that genuinely benefit from full-text, ranking, and high-speed filtering.
  • Use secure identity/KYC integration for marketplace trust workflows.
  • Automate build, test, and deployment through repeatable CI/CD.
